If you have a taste for the gourmet but don’t get the chance to go to the olive grove or factory where it is produced, then this is your opportunity to stock up! With gourmet products ranging from flavoured oils and condiments to cheeses and chutneys, the Wine and Waves Festival offers an intimate and personal experience with the people who make the product.
River Flats Estate River Flats Estate is a boutique family owned business with a grove of 3500 trees located at Broke in the Hunter Valley. The Tuscan varieties of olives grown are harvested at their peak and cold pressed within a few hours to extract the rich, full-flavoured Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Fresh lemons are added to the olives at the crushing stage to produce the Lemon Infused Olive Oil. River Flats estate use only high quality products to infuse their oils, they do not use essences. Hunter Valley Cheese Company
Special Offer While making your way amongst the wineries, why not purchase a gourmet cheese platter from the Hunter Valley Cheese Company? Platters will include varieties of cheese chosen for flavour and texture variation, dried muscatel grapes, gourmet wafers, cutlery and napkins are all included.
The Hunter Valley Cheese Factory and Tasting Room is nestled in the heart of Pokolbin Wine Country, our tasting room and boutique cheese factory operates seven (7) days from 9am to 5.30pm.
Premium quality award winning cheeses include Grapevine Ashed Brie, Hunter Gold Washed Rind and Hunter Valley Marinated Feta. All Hunter Valley cheeses are preservative free and produced on site using vegetarian rennet.
Viewing windows to the cheese factory allow visitors to view cheesemaking in action – a complimentary cheese tutorial is conducted daily at 11am & 3pm.

Whether you are interested in exceptional food, gourmet products and treats, sampling fine wines browsing the market stalls or sitting back and relaxing to great music, there is something for everyone at Wine and Wave.
Kids Zone You need not worry about the kids!
The festival will promote a fun and family atmosphere with a huge ‘Kids Zone’ supplied by high quality amusement operators, Megamania. Located just outside the licensed area, the Kids Zone will be fully enclosed with all rides supervised by trained and professional staff.
With a host of rides and activities available including jumping castles, slides, bungee trampoline and swinging chairs, kids of all ages can enjoy a great day of fun while Mum and Dad enjoy a relaxed lunch with the vista of Merewether Beach behind them.
Here, the kids can also have their faces painted or get a tattoo, of the airbrushed variety of course!
Judy Nadin Caricaturist A unique and fascinating addition to the 2nd annual Wine and Waves Festival will be award winning cartoonist, Judy Nadin, who will be drawing live caricatures for visitors to the festival.
Judy Nadin is a Newcastle based freelance designer and award winning cartoonist and has created caricatures of some of the most famous faces in the world including Kylie Minogue, George W Bush, Prince Charles and Shane Warne, among many others. Judy is a five time Bald Archy finalist; her entry featuring Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd was a top contender this year; she was also the winner of Michael Collins Caricature Award in 2006, winner of the Rotary Awards (International) in 2005 and the runner up for the same award in 2004.
“I’m very excited about attending Wine and Waves this weekend. It’s a unique event and it will be great fun to be involved,” said Judy.
Exclusively for this event, Judy has completed caricatures in acrylic and watercolour, of some of Surfest’s high profile surfers, past and present including; Mark Occhilupo, Mark Richards, Adrian Buchan, Jeremy Flores, Stephanie Gilmore, Luke Egan and Layne Beachley. These unique, collector’s item caricatures will be available for sale by silent auction at Wine and Waves, some will be personally autographed by the subject.
As well as having the chance to view and bid for these unique works, for those attending Wine and Waves there will be a rare opportunity to own a portrait from an award winning, local artist, as Judy will be in attendance over the weekend creating on the spot caricatures for purchase. Market Stalls This year Wine and Waves will also include market stalls, featuring a variety of arts, crafts and items. Henderson Parade will become “Market Street" for the duration of the festival and visitors are sure to find a fantastic buy among the products available.
Surfhouse Photography A new, fresh product by a young surf culture photographer, Alexandra Thompson. Alexandra creates colourful images from the places she visits and the people she sees, all promoting the free and easy surf lifestyle.
Lakeshots Photography Bring the lake into your home with professional framed shots of Lake Macquarie and surrounding areas. Lakeshots Photograpy offers great quality photographs in a variety of sizes and with large format printing or canvas printing available, all with personal and professional service provided by Keven and Julie Moffitt.
There will also be beautiful handcrafted crystal suncatchers by Maria Nott; hand made crafts and gifts and hand painted terracotta pots from Cheryl’s Crafty Creations; hand painted and hand embroidered sarongs by Michael and Kathleen Owen.
In perfect synergy with Surfest and Wine and Waves, the Wilderness Society will be on hand to create awareness of their vital work with the Wild Oceans’ Marine Campaign… and much more….
